Working on some small landscapes. 150mm x 200mm.
Pleased to find out that both my entries for the Shropshire Open have been accepted this year. A small oil painting ‘Jar’, and a linocut ‘English Bridge Steps, Shrewsbury’.
Having been encouraged by the response to my print of fog in Cardingmill Valley I have just finished a new print of ‘Fog, English Bridge, Shrewsbury’. This uses the same technique of printing on several layers of tracing paper and then sandwiching them together.
Added a new etching to my website. It’s a tree on the Long Mynd, between the Burway and Cow Ridge. An edition of 20, one of which has already found its way to an airbnb in Church Stretton.
Very pleased, and suprised, to be informed yesterday that my print ‘Fog, Cardingmill Valley’ has been awarded a Highly Commended certificate by the judges at the biennial Print Prize exhibition! Chuffed to bits!
Trip to Birmingham today to take my print ‘Fog, Cardingmill Valley’ which has been accepted for the 2018 RBSA Print Prize exhibition. Lovely gallery in the Jewellery Quarter. Exhibition runs from Wed 25 July to Sat 1 September.
Another drypoint etching. The 15th century Abbotts House in Butcher Row, Shrewsbury (at the moment housing Philpotts Sandwich shop). The small press that I now have makes printing so much easier. Hand burnishing was very time consuming and didn’t provide enough pressure to do etching.
Finished the print of ‘English Bridge Steps, Shrewsbury’. 200mm x 275mm.
If you want to keep warm I can recommend hand printing. Today I are been burnishing mainly with the back of a wooden spoon.
A couple of quick watercolours of our new kitten, Fern.
Just finished a self portrait in watercolour.
Pleased to see another painting sold in the Shropshire Open at the Gateway Gallery in Shrewsbury.
Very pleased to find that I’ve had two paintings accepted for the Shropshire Open!
The exhibition runs from 31Oct to 8Dec in Gallery3 at The Gateway in Shrewsbury.
The Art Vaults is moving! Unfortunately they have no confirmed premises at the moment but are hoping to get somewhere with larger gallery space in the centre of Shrewsbury. In the meantime they have sold another of my small still life paintings!
Four postcard sized paintings I am entering for the Postcards Exhibition at Shrewsbury’s Gallery 3. A view over the harbour at St Ives done in acrylics.
The new style of frame for the small paintings really works and makes the work appear more substantial. A good choice by Ross at The Art Vaults.
